Denny Herzberg offers some effective team-building exercises specifically for the workplace.

Two Truths and a Lie
Denny Herzberg notes that this game is a great icebreaker for any team. During this activity, individuals write down two truths and a lie on a piece of paper. Once everyone has something written down, allow 10-15 minutes for open conversation where everyone quizzes each other on their three questions. The key of the game is to convince everyone that your lie is true. Denny Herzberg believes this game will encourage better communication within your office, and it also gives your employees the opportunity to get to know each other better.

Puzzle
A great problem solving activity is a puzzle. Denny Herzberg notes that managers can split their employees into teams and have them construct a puzzle together. Members should be given their own pieces to the puzzle. This will require employees to work together to solve the problem, and it will simulate working in “departments.”

Create Your Own
Denny Herzberg notes that managers can have employees create their own problem solving activity related to the industry they work in. Employees can be split into teams, and given a fake problem. Once the problem has been announced, the goal of each team is to come up with a new problem solving activity they invented themselves. Denny Herzberg believes that having employees construct their own activity will promote creativity, communication, trust, and time management.
